COMMENT: The helmet that set the SHARP test 5-star bar is unchanged for 2010 and with good reason when you have won the world's most rigorous and prestigious safety test.
Constructed from a tri-composite blend of the usual fiberglass, but with far more advanced and technical aramid and kevlar, the MX5 Daytona is unbelievably light compared to a Shoei or an Arai and exudes quality and thought from every single component. For example, a 3.2 mm thick clear visor sets an industry benchmark and which may not be as quick release as some but is indestructibly engineered with an allen key system for faultless and fussless changing, Cheek pads are also removable and even interchangeable for bigger or smaller items. Even the carry case is a proper quality lined item which all adds up to the impression of a totally customer focused product.
But it is the empirical SHARP test for which the best looking retro helmet on the market remains a legend, achieving the highest possible rating in every area of impact resistance and energy absorption.
New colors for 2010 include white and blue, yellow and black, to add to the existing black with white, red with white, white with red and black with orange.
Iridium or tinted visors for track day or European riding are fully available as are packs of tear-offs.
